Wall Street: Day and month down; quarter up
FXStreet (San Francisco) - The US stocks market closed down on Tuesday and posted monthly losses while majors indexes extended quarterly gains for seventh straight period.
Investors traded on end-quarter mode and ahead of ECB and NFP data later on the week. In addition, market players are positioning into the last quarter of the year.
The Dow Jones declined 28.32 pts or 0.17% to finish the day at 17,042.90; 0.31% down in September but 1.3% positive in the Q3. The S&P 500 lost 5.51 pts or 0.28% to 1,972.29; 1.55% negative in the month while 0.62% positive in the quarter.
The Nasdaq Composite fell 12.46 pts or 0.28% to 4,493.39; 1.9% down on month but 1.93% up in quarter.
