Wall Street closes mixed amid US elections

FXStreet (San Francisco) - US stocks closed mixed on Tuesday as investors were focused on the midterm elections in the US, as well as monetary policy meetings of central banks and NFP later in the week.

Major US indexes fell early in the session mostly dragged by European shares; However, the market managed to recover some losses to close mixed. Oil prices and energy stocks pushed down.

DJIA advanced 17.60 points or 0.10% to finish at 17,383.84; S&P 500 lost 5.71 points or 0.28% to close at 2,012.10; while the Nasdaq declined 15.27 pts or 0.33% to 4,623.64.
