Dutch repatriate 20% of their Gold
FXStreet (Mumbai) - The Dutch Central Bank, secretly shipped 20% of its Gold reserves back to Amsterdam from a secure depot in New York.
A total 120 tonnes of Gold valued at EUR 4bn has been repatriated by ship. In its statement, the bank disclosed that its 612.5-ton gold reserve is now divided 31% in Amsterdam, 31% New York, 20% in Canada, and 18% in London.
Moreover, by repatriating Gold, the central bank is trying to boost confidence among the public and quell fears about the safety of reserves that were spurred by the crisis in the economy.
