FTSE flirts with 6600 levels

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The London’s Ftse index is hovering around 6600 levels, after declining from a high of 6622.30 levels hit earlier today.

The index currently trades 0.36% higher at 6600.00 levels, compared to the previous session’s close at 6576 levels. The index breadth is positive with an advance-decline ratio of 73:27. The Ftse Oil EQ SVS index has gained 2.38%, followed by a 1.92% gain in the Ftse Industrial Engineering index. Mining index is up 0.36%, while Oil and Gas index is largely unchanged for the day.

Among the index stocks, Petrofac is the biggest gainer for the day, up 3.26%, followed by 3.235 gain in Weir Group. Morrison, IMI, and Tesco have gained in the range of 1.9% to 2.2%. On the other hand, Reckitt Benckiser is the top loser, down 1.74%, followed by a 1.6% decline in Persimmon.

The index declined from the day’s high after the official data in the UK showed a slowdown in the year-on-year third quarter growth rate to 2.6%, from the estimate of 3.0%.

Ftse Technical Levels

The index has an immediate support located at 6588 (Oct 6 high), under which prices can fall to 6544 (Oct. 9 high) levels. Meanwhile, resistance is located at 6622.30 and 6441 (Nov 20 low).
