UK: GDP grows 0.3% in Q1, as expected

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - On a quarterly basis UK GDP increased 0.3% in Q1 2013, after rising 0.3% in Q4 2012, according to data released today by National Statistics. This result is in line with market consensus.

Year-over-year GDP grew 0.3% in Q1, down from +0.6 in Q4 and below expectations of a 0.6% increase.

GBP/USD testing the support

GBP/USD has started to drop on a poor set of key UK figures, in the main GDP will be in focus. GDP came in at 0.3% vrs 0.6% yoy and expectations of 0.6%. Month on month were in line, but coupled with a widening of the Current Account, GBP/USD looks set to move towards the June lows around 1.5200.
