USD/CAD hits fresh 6-year high above 1.2100
FXStreet (Córdoba) - The dollar advanced to a fresh 6-year high versus the loonie on Tuesday as the Canadian currency resumed the fall along with oil prices.
USD/CAD broke above the 1.2050 resistance area and former high triggering stops and accelerating above 1.2100. The pair briefly rose above the psychological level to score a peak of 1.2112, last seen April 2009, before pulling back to current levels. At time of writing, USD/CAD is trading at 1.2085, recording a 1.23% gain on the day.
USD/CAD technical levels
As for technical levels, next resistances are now seen at 1.2112 (6-year high Jan 20) and 1.2200 (psychological level). On the flip side, supports could be found at 1.1935 (daily low/10-day SMA) and 1.1900 (psychological level).
