BOE: M4 increased by GBP17bn in December

FXStreet (London) - According to data released by the Bank of England, UK broad money, M4 excluding intermediate other financial corporations (OFCs), increased by GBP17.0bn in December, compared with the average monthly increase of GBP4.9bn over the previous six months. The three-month annualised and twelve-month growth rates were 5.0 percent and 4.2 percent respectively.

Households’ holdings of M4 increased by GBP5.4bn in December, compared to the average monthly increase of GBP4.2bn over the previous six months. The three-month annualised and twelve-month growth rates were 4.6 percent and 4.0 percent respectively.

Total lending to individuals increased by GBP2.2bn in December, compared to the average monthly increase of GBP2.9bn over the previous six months. The three-month annualised and twelve-month growth rates were 2.2 percent and 2.3 percent respectively.

Lending secured on dwellings increased by GBP1.6bn in December, compared to the average monthly increase of GBP1.9bn over the previous six months. The three-month annualised and twelve-month growth rates were 1.5 percent and 1.8 percent respectively. Gross lending secured on dwellings was GBP16.6bn and repayments were GBP14.6bn.
