USD/MXN climbs above 15 for the first time since 2009
FXStreet (Córdoba) - USD/MXN reached levels above 15.000 for the first time since March 2009. The pair is rising for the fourth day in a row and printed a fresh daily high at 15.061. Currently is hovering around 15.000.
Greenback is rising across the board on Friday while the Mexican peso is among the worst performers together with the Brasilian real, despite the recovery in oil prices. Yesterday the Mexican central left the interest rate unchanged as expect at 3%.
The rise of the USD/MXN above 15.000 could activate an intervention program launched in December aimed to curb volatility in the exchange rate.
