Eurogroup pressures Greece: We have to stop wasting time
FXStreet (Córdoba) - The head of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, said at the end of the short meeting with Eurozone finance ministers, that they agreed that there is no further time to lose, referring to Greece. He transmitted impatience and pressure the Greek government to come up with a credible economic plan.
Dijsselbloem affirmed that technical discussions between the Troika and the Greek government will start on Wednesday in Brussels and that a technical team will be welcome in Athens. “Real talks haven't really started yet. Only thing I know is that they will start on Wednesday”. They will discussed Greek proposals and the pace of the implementation of reforms.
He affirmed that they are ready to support the Greek government, on the condition that an agreement on the whole package and implementation is agreed in time. The financial needs of Greece should help the program get underway according to the head of the Eurogroup, but he made clear that without an agreement, no money will be disbursed.
The new Greek government reached an agreement to extend the bailout program by four months, but a program on reforms has to be reach with creditors in April, in order to still have access to loans.
