Cross market volatility overnight - Westpac

"US 10yr treasury yields rose from 2.14% to 2.23%, retracing all of the previous day’s decline, despite a disappointing US homebuilder sentiment survey (NAHB 54 in May vs f/c 57 and April’s 56)."

"10 year UK gilt yields rose 7bp, bunds 3bp but Italy and Portugal 10yr yields jumped 12bp on the Greece jitters. Australian bonds followed the offshore lead, the 3yr up 4bp in yield to 2.09%, the 10yr 8bp to 2.94%."

"The S&P 500 closed up 0.3% to a new record closing high, after the Euro Stoxx 50 rose 0.5%. Brent crude oil attempted a rally but closed -0.8% at $66.27/bbl".

"COMEX copper finished -0.6% while spot iron ore fell for the fifth straight session, -1.1% to $60.65/tonne."

"Gold’s late Asia rally to $1232 fizzled out, steadying around $1225/oz."
