GBP/JPY climbing to highs

FXstreet.com (London) - GBP/JPY has climbed from 151.80 to breach 152.40 resistance this afternoon and printed a high of 153.14.

The pound is performing better today, having lost ground in a dollar friendly environment. Yen was a better performer overnight, and took USD/JPY from above 97.80 to test and dip below the 97.00 handle. Data wise, the latest FOMC minutes from the US will be released on Wednesday evening and could shed some light on September tapering.

GBP/JPY levels

The GBP/JPY 20 dma is 151.05, the 40 dma is 150.90 and the 200 dma is 145.75. RSI (9) reads 63.48. Supports are ascending from 150.65, 151.20, 151.75. Spot is currently 152.25 while resistances are 152.70, 153.60, 154.05, 154.20 and 154.65.

USD/CAD reaches 1.0400 on weak Canadian wholesale sales

The USD/CAD extended gains to the 1.0400 area after data showed Canadian Wholesale Sales fell much more than expected in June (-2.8% vs 0.7% exp), weighing on the loonie.
