Canada core retail sales tanked 0.6% month-on-month in April

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The official data released in Canada on Friday showed core retail sales in April fell 0.6%, missing the estimate of a 0.3% rise. The headline figure came-in at 0.1%, missing the estimate of a 0.7% rise.

As per the official report, Lower sales at food and beverage stores as well as electronics and appliance stores offset higher sales in most other subsectors. Sales were down in 4 of 11 subsectors, representing 43% of retail trade. After removing the effects of price changes, retail sales in volume terms were down 0.2%.
