GBP/USD keeps highs on PMI

FXStreet (Edinburgh) - The sterling remains on the right footing on Friday, taking GBP/USD to daily tops in the vicinity of 1.5640.

GBP/USD indifferent post-PMI

The pair kept the composure despite the relevant Services PMI in the UK economy came in above expectations during June, at 58.5 vs. 57.4 forecasted and 56.5 from the previous month.

Spot keeps following the better tone in the risk-associated universe today, all amidst unusual low activity due to the holiday in the US and the proximity of the Greek referendum on Sunday.

GBP/USD relevant levels

As of writing the pair is up 0.10% at 1.5625 with the next hurdle at 1.5734 (high Jul.1) followed by 1.5775 (high Jun.30) and finally 1.5789 (high Jun.29). On the downside, a breach of 1.5582 (low Jul.2) would aim for 1.5542 (low Jun.16) and then 1.5487 (low Jun.15).

Greek referendum results expected after 1900 EDT on Sunday

Greeks are scheduled to vote on the referendum on Sunday, with a ‘Yes’ vote widely perceived to be a EUR positive outcome, while a ‘No’ vote a negative one.
