Speculators now bearish on 10-year treasury note futures

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The latest data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) shows the speculators have pushed overall positions now in a slightly bearish side.

The non-commercial futures contracts of the 10-year treasury notes, primarily traded by large speculators and hedge funds, witnessed a weekly change of -25,033 net contracts to total a net position of -2,543 contracts in the data reported for October 6th. Long positions in 10-year futures fell by -7,685 contracts and combined with a rise in the short positions by +17,348 contracts.

The commercials, hedgers or traders engaged in buying and selling for business purposes, added to their overall bullish positions to a total net position of +68,049 contracts.

The yield on the 10-yr note now trades 1.8 basis points lower on the day around 2.09%.

NZD: Bullish bias for the week – Westpac
