Downside pressures in prices seen as transitory – BoE’s McCafferty

FXStreet (Edinburgh) - BoE’s MPC member Ian McCafferty has regarded the current disinflationary pressures in the UK economy as transitory.

He also argued that current risks stemming from the EM space represent no critical threat to the UK economy.

GBP/USD is now looking to consolidate around the 1.5240 area, or session lows, after climbing as high as the 1.5380/90 band in early trade.

Global supply glut to persist in 2016 - IEA

In its monthly report published on Tuesday, the Paris-based International Energy Agency (IEA) noted that the global supply glut is likely to persist and could extend by at least another year, anticipating the return of Iranian oil.
