US core PCE deflator may edge higher – RBS

Brian Daingerfield, FX Trading Strategist at RBS, suggests that on Monday, the latest US PCE report will be released for February which will include updates on personal spending, personal income, and the all-important inflation measure, the PCE deflator.

Key Quotes

“Last week, Chair Yellen pointed to some transitory factors that may be boosting core inflation of late, adding that she “[has not] yet concluded that we have seen any significant uptick that will be lasting.” The consensus estimate does suggest the core PCE deflator may edge higher yet, but given Chair Yellen’s discussion of temporary factors, the category breakdown of the inflation figure may prove more impactful than usual.”
