Is gold damned to $1,270 lows this week?

FXstreet.com (Chicago) – The gravitational pressure on futures metals continues weighting on the contracts’ performances sending most instruments to the grounds.

Gold extends a trading range around the $1,270 zone and is subdued by speculations on Bernanke’s announcements later today (speech scheduled at 00:00 GMT). Obama’s speech may also have some effect on the contracts’ performances.

Gold is offered at $1,273.90 and prints a retracement of 0.13% registering lows at $1,268 and highs at $1,278.20. Silver is 0.05% down and trades at $20.35 with lows at $20.20 and highs at $20.48. On the other hand, platinum advances 0.50% and is offered at $1,418.00 printing lows at $1,405.10 and highs at $1,425.50. Copper is 0.19% stronger and is offered at $3.1560 registering lows at $3.1240 and highs at $3.1730. Finally, palladium is 0.53% stronger and is offered at $720.55 printing lows at $713.30 and highs at $725.60.
