Eurozone trade surplus narrowed in February
The data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union showed Eurozone recorded a EUR 19 billion surplus in February 2016, compared to EUR 20 billion seen in Feb 2015.
Markets were expecting surplus to have widened to EUR 21.2 billion. Last month’s surplus was EUR 21.2 billion.
Exports registered an increase of 1% compared with February 2015, while imports rose 2%. Official report also showed intra-euro area trade rose to EUR 273.0 billion in January-February 2016, up by 1% compared with January-February 2015.
