EUR/USD climbs to fresh 9-day highs

EUR/USD advanced sharply to fresh 9-day highs as the euro tracked the pound higher, following BoE decision to leave rates on hold.

EUR/USD broke above previous weekly highs in the 1.1130 area and rose to a peak of 1.1164 in recent dealings. At time of writing, the pair is trading at 1.1160, recording a 0.65% gain on Thursday.

The dollar weakened against European peers, led by GBP, after the BoE decided to keep rates unchanged at today’s meeting.

EUR/USD levels to watch

As for technical levels, immediate resistances 1.1185 (Jul 5 high) and 1.1229 (100-day SMA) ahead of 1.1300 (psychological level). On the flip side, support levels are seen at 1.1093 (200-day SMA), 1.1040 (Jul 13 low), 1.1014 (Jul 11 low) and 1.1000 (psychological level).
