Fed should hike in ‘not too distant future’ – FOMC’s Kaplan
Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan (voter in 2017) has argued that the Fed could hike in a ‘not so distant future’, adding that a case for higher rates is strengthening.
Kaplan remained hesitant on the likeliness of rising the Fed’s inflation target, while he said the economy needs higher productivity and capital spending.
He also argued that the labor slack is coming out of the jobs’ market.
