US factory orders rise 0.2% in August

US factory orders rose a seasonally adjusted 0.2% in August from the prior month, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

This reading follows a downwardly revised rise of 1.4% in July but comes above the 0.1% decline expected by analysts.

Factory orders were flat from July when excluding the transportation sector and fell 0.3% when excluding defense.
