EUR/JPY falls to 2-week lows below 142.00

FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - The Yen is surging across the board as the Nikkei 225 tumbles. The EUR/JPY broke below 142.00 and bottomed so far at 141.74 hitting the lowest price since December 19th .

EUR/JPY reverses as Nikkei tumbles

At the beginning of the week the EUR/JPY rose to test 142.70 that capped the recovery on Friday from 141.95, but it was unable to break higher and lost momentum after the initial minutes of trading in the Japanese stock market and dropped 70 pips in a few minutes. So far the Euro bottomed at 141.74 and remains under pressure.

The Nikkei 225 is losing more than 2% as the EUR/JPY trades near daily lows at 141.85, 0.32% below today's opening price. It is the first trading day of 2014 for stocks in Japan.

GBP/JPY hits 170.50 confluence, steady selling

GBP/JPY is going through a sharp decline along the Asian time frame, with a soaring Yen capitalizing on the miseries of the British Pound in the current session.
