BOJ to shed light on corporate doings abroad in revamped survey - Nikkei
The Nikkei carries a story this Wednesday, noting that the Bank of Japan (BOJ) published its final plans for revising the quarterly Tankan survey for business sentiment.
In its revised survey, starting around 2020, the BOJ will ask companies about their overseas revenue and capital investment, as well as their projected yen-euro rate. The new questions will provide better insight into Japanese corporations by focusing on their activities abroad, the Nikkei reports.
The move comes as Japan's Cabinet Office is set to start counting research and development as investment under the revised July-September gross domestic product, to be announced Thursday.
