Greece to reach primary budget surplus in 2013

FXstreet.com (Łódź) - Greek Deputy Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said on Tuesday that Greece's central government attained a budget surplus of 691 million euros in 2013. It is expected that the general government surplus should amount to 812 million euros, making the country eligible for more debt relief from the Troika lenders.

According to the conditions of the international bailout, Greece is to be granted more debt relief once it reaches a primary surplus for an entire year. Overall budget figures will be released in one month.

"The budget execution confirms and reinforces our estimates for the year that ended," Christos Staikouras assured. "After many years and enormous sacrifices by the Greek people, the country will achieve a primary surplus this year."
