AUD/USD extends decline below 0.9000

FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - The AUD/USD accelerated losses at the beginning of the American session and fell to a fresh 4-day low, weighed by better-than-expected US retail sales data.

The AUD/USD broke below the 0.9000 mark and dropped to a low of 0.8965 in recent dealings. The AUD/USD entered in a downward corrective phase, following 2 days of gains, after finding resistance at a 1-month high of 0.9085 on Monday. Having completely retraced yesterday's advance, the AUD/USD is currently trading at the 0.8975 zone, recording a 0.9% loss on the day.

AUD/USD technical levels


In terms of technical levels, the AUD/USD could find immediate supports at 0.8965 (Jan 14 low), 0.8950 (10-day SMA) and 0.8900 (psychological level). On the other hand, resistances are seen at 0.9057 (Jan 14 high), 0.9085 (Jan 13 high) and 0.9100 (psychological level).

USD/CAD is extending gains on positive US data which has negated any recovery made by the Canadian dollar previously.
