BoC: Deputy Governor Wilkins' speech in focus – Deutsche Bank
Analysts at Deutsche Bank explain that given the shift in tone from the BoC, Deputy Governor Wilkins' speeches for today in Toronto and Wednesday at the IMF will be closely followed.
Key Quotes
“For the BoC to begin to signal the potential for a rate hike this year, inflation will have to improve. This may not be the case near term as we expect the March CPI data to show a minor slowdown on headline and core inflation. That said, assuming the US growth picture continues to improve as we expect and no deleterious impacts from US trade policy, the rising US tide should continue to lift Canada along with it.
