ECB's Villeroy: French growth to remain sustained in 2018

Comments from Bank of France Governor and ECB board member Francois Villeroy:

  • Growth to remain sustained this year, a trend visible for all of the Eurozone.
  • Interest rates are climbing gradually (around the world) and that's the result of accelerating growth.
  • Looking at real rates - the price of credit subtracting inflation - they remain "very favourable".

Villeroy essentially echoing France's Finance Minister Le Maire, who stated that he expects French GDP to exceed the expected 1.7% growth rate for 2018.
