Wall Street returns with gains amid economic data
FXStreet (San Francisco) - The US stocks market returned from the long weekend with gains as investors cheered a set of better than expected economic data in the United States.
The S&P 600 closed at record high while the transports sector fueled the Dow to close 40 points shy of record highs. Nasdaq and Russell 2000 rallied.
The Dow Jones advanced 69.23 points or 0.42 to finish at 16,675.50; the S&P 500 added 11.38 pts or 0.60% to close the day at 1,911.91; while the Nasdaq rallied 51.26 pts or 1.22% to end the session at 4,237.07.
