US: CPI and retail sales report due today - Rabobank

Elwin de Groot, Senior Eurozone Strategist at Rabobank, suggests that in the US, we have both a CPI and retail sales report for June.

“This is followed later by the Empire Manufacturing index for July, industrial production figures for June and the University of Michigan consumer sentiment survey for July. Although, individually, most of these data are second-tier (at least when compared to the NFP report), combined they could still help in assessing whether one of the Fed’s key conditions for gradual tightening towards the end of this year remains intact.

And, as a sneak preview to next week, UK foreign secretary Boris Johnson is heading for Brussels to participate in the EU’s foreign affairs council on Monday.”
